How did you weather the Facebook and Instagram outage? Did your heart race? Were your palms sweaty? Were you worried you'd miss your favorite influencer going live? (you didn’t, btw, the whole platform was down so they didn’t do their live.) Deep breath.
I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda jazzed by the outage. What if this was the wake up call we all needed? What if we all stopped shouting "Hey! Over here! Look at me!" in our posts and started listening to each other, engaging in meaningful conversations, and spreading goodness wherever we could? THAT'S the social media experience I want to be having.
And I have to admit, that's not what I've been doing. I've been a shouter. I try to shout valuable things, but the content doesn't negate the fact that my posts recently have been way too much "Hey! Look at me and my coaching skills! Please hire me!" Honestly, it was feeling gross and I needed a change, so I'm grateful for the "down time" to pause and reflect on my true intentions for my presence on social media.
From this outage forward, I vow to connect, be playful, and add genuine value to each platform I engage on. I vow to uplift, inspire, and embolden with every post and comment. I vow to be me and celebrate you being you. 💖
